DT Day with Tracie

Today I am sharing a project that I am using for a Christmas gift.  This really shows how versatile the digital images are.  I am using one of my favorite Christmas images from Meljen’s Designs called Christmas Star Snowman.  He is so adorable and I have used this stamp in so many different sizes. I also used the Merry Christmas Word Art from Meljen's Designs also.  Seemed to be the perfect fit for the holder.  Sorry the picture isn't very clear but we haven't seen the sun in Kansas for a while and I just couldn't find a good place to take a picture.

For this gift card holder, I started with a piece of red cardstock cut 4” x 11”.  You then score the long pieces at 2 ½ and 6 ¾.

I folded over the red cardstock at the 2 ½ scored line.  I then took one of my 2 ½” circle dies and cut the circle out placing it off center.

For the designer paper pieces I cut the green sheets 2” x 3 ¾” and ¾” x 3 ¾”.  I cut the striped paper 1 ¾” x 3 ½” and ½” x 3 ½”.    I used the large Stampin Up scallop punch, 1 3/4" circle punch red card stock and then I cut the image out with a 1 1/2" circle punch.  I colored the image with my copic markers and added stickles to make the image pop.
Once you cut the center out of the card, you will easily see where to place the scallop circle with the image.
In the inside, I used the retired slit punch from Stampin Up to hold the gift card in place.  This was such a fun project and perfect for the holidays.

Remember that Meljen's Designs is having their 50% off sale until December 15.  Check the store out today because she has added several new images and why not get them while they are on sale.

DT Day with Emily!

Hey Everyone!  I know you are all super busy getting ready for Christmas, but thanks for stopping by today!

I wanted to share a little bit of inspiration for something other than Christmas.  That is about all I have been focused on lately, so it was nice to do something else for a little bit.
Of course, you can tell that the Christmas spirit is still on my mind since I've used some frosty blues all over my card :)  Blue and silver have been favorites of mine this year so it was fun to put them into use again for a completely different themed card.

I've used the adorable Heart Strings Parasol for my card today.  The first thing I started with was the background.  It's super simple, just a giant pile of water and a single color of paint!  I swirled it around to get it really moving on my paper, and then set it aside to dry a little bit.  Before it had completely dried, though, I went back around the edges to fade out the harsh line.  I didn't want to do that while it was still wet because I wanted it to fade right out to the white background.  So it needed to dry, otherwise more of the color would have moved into the new wet paper.

My image was printed onto watercolor paper so the texture matched throughout the whole card.  Sometimes it is really hard to get printer ink to dry on watercolor paper...or any paper.  Especially if you are going to use alcohol markers.  I don't have any special secret to fixing this...it is still a struggle for me.  But to get the image to a workable state, I took my heat gun and ran it over my image for a nice long while...a couple minutes at least, moving it around so it didn't burn my paper.  I wanted the heat to get all the way through the paper to really dry up the ink.  This really helped keep the image from smearing too much while I colored.

There aren't too many details to this card, which makes it so gorgeous.  I die cut a few sparkly hearts to decorate the parasol with and combined a couple of sentiment stamps to get a cute phrase to put under everything.  The card is lined with some sparkly blue glitter paper to tie it all in together!

I hope this has sparked a little inspiration for you!  Be sure to join in our Holiday challenge!!!  And don't forget about the 50% off sale running until December 15th!!

DT Day with Sue

Christmas is fast approaching and I have been in FULL Christmas mode!
We just returned from a vacation in a warm climate and now I am back to winter. To distract myself from the cold I thought I would create something fun!
I saw these cute Kit Kat sleighs online and thought I would try it! To go with my sleigh I made a tag using the "Candy Cane Sled Mouse" which is a perfect image for this project!
I coloured the image with Copic markers and put it on a Kraft cardstock tag with patterned papers and added ribbon.
Join us every month for new Challenges!
And see the Shop for all your Christmas needs!
Hope you enjoy!
