Boys, Birthdays and Burgers...

Good morning! Nancy here with a birthday card I made for my grandson, Braden, who will be turning 11 years old this week. If you ask Braden what he would like to eat, {morning , noon, or night}, he will tell you he would like a "Cheeseburger!" It's his favourite. So for his card I knew I just had to use Melissa's "Big Burger" image. You can find it right here in the shop.

I borrowed some "Distress Ink Water Colour Markers", from my daughter,  to colour  this image up. This was my very first time trying them and I think with a bit of practice I could get to really like working with them. I'm a "Copic Girl", but I love the soft look of water colour and have a hard time achieving that look with Copics.
I started out to make this a CAS card with lots of white space. but I just couldn't leave that big white space alone, lol. So I added a pocket with an inserted tag, {that will probably hold a gift card for a much desired cheeseburger!}. The DPs, ribbon and button are all from my stash. I used my Dymo Punch to make the sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by to check out my post. Remember our weekly challenge which is a sketch this time and keep an eye out for a freebie this weekend!
hugs,
Nancy

DT Day with Cynthia

Hi!  It's Cynthia and I am sharing a fun project
with you today.

Meljen's digital images are so versatile.
I wanted to share a scrapbook page that
I made earlier this year using two digital
images from the shop.

and

The sun was printed directly to colored cardstock then fussy cut and glitter applied.

I printed the Sand Castle colored image twice and fussy cut
to give more dimension.  I also added Flower Soft
to the edges for additional dimension.

There's so many creative options for digital images.
I hope this inspires you to try something new
with one of Melissa's fabulous images!

DT Day with Emily!

Hey everyone!
Happy Tuesday!  I hope all of our Canadian followers had a fabulous Thanksgiving this past weekend!  My belly and fridge are full of turkey!

So today I have a fun little Halloween card to share with you.  I haven't made too many Halloween cards this year, which is weird for me since that is probably my favorite holiday and I usually crank out a ton of cards for it.  But that hasn't happened too much this year.

However, when I saw some of the new images that Melissa just released last week, I had to use one for my DT day creation :)
I'm really happy with how this card turned out!  Especially since I whipped it up late last night after all of our holiday festivities :)

I've used the super adorable Fish or Treat Cat image along with the new Spooky Tree image in the background.  They are both colored in with my pencils.  For the background of the spooky tree, I didn't want to pull out all of my inks and try to mask off the tree...so I just used my chalks.

Chalks can give you the same look and feel of the distress inks, but on a much softer level.  I've used 2 shades of blue and some black around the edges to darken it up, but it is much softer than it would have been had I used the same colors in ink.  But the chalks blend together just as nicely and can still make a card pop!

I finished it all off with some glitter and pearl dots around the tree and some black enamel dots for extra detail.  I totally love that sweet ghost kitty!  Too adorable :)

So let me know if you have ever used chalk on your creations...any fun techniques you've learned?

Thanks for stopping by!! <3

DT day with Céline

Hi everyone!
I was thinking what I could make for you to show here and then I remembered Melissa made some adorable sugarskulls.
I love sugarskulls as long as I can remember. My birthday is november 1st so that's where the love is coming from. As a kid I found out that they celebrate Dia de los Muertos on november 1st so I always wanted to live in Mexico to celebrate my birthday LOL
I made some gift tags with these cute sugarskulls. You can find them in the digital shop of Meljen's Designs herehere and here. These tags were really easy to make. I've used different spray inks and a mask with modelling paste to make the texture.

See you next time!!
Hugs!
