TUESDAY TUTORIAL - #2 PAPER PIECING

Hello! Andrea here for the second tutorial for MelJen's Designs. Today I bring you a step by step guide to paper piecing a digital stamp.

When I think digitals stamps I immediately begin choosing my papers. I am in love with patterned paper. So much variety in patterns, texture, and color that it can really make an image pop off the page. In this tutorial I wanted to break down the steps to paper piecing one of my favorite MelJen’s Design images, “Pansies”.

I began the process by inserting the image twice into a word document, resizing one to make it smaller than the other. Taking the idea from the Shannon’s first tutorial, I wanted to “merge” these images on paper.

Once you have chosen your paper, print your images and get ready to cut and create!

Start with your base, in this case the cream cardstock. I wanted to use the larger image as the base and add an additional flower from the smaller image, as shown below. (By adding this, it gives me the outline I need to line up the next layer correctly.)

Now you want to add the layers of color. With each layer add 3-dimensional tape to give the image depth.

Finally, add more detail using markers, glitter, or other embellishments.

And your project is complete!

Tip: You will be sure not to waste paper if you use the remaining pieces to create additional images.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and be sure to check back in two weeks for #3 brought to you by Shannon.

Okay, so first things first!  Our randomly chosen winner of 3 digis is...

Congratulations, Joanne! Please contact Melissa (mnjenkins@hotmail.com) and let her know that you're the winner for Meljen's Designs Challenge #2.

Challenge #3: Add those 3D elements!

Are you ready for another Meljen's Designs Challenge?  We were overwhelmed by the entries from the last challenge.  Remember to please come back on Monday to see the winners for Challenge #2.

First, an announcement!  We have a new release coming up next week on April 22 of 10 brand spankin' new images AND starting next week, we will have weekly releases!  We felt that 3 weeks was just way too long to wait for each new release so we're bumping it up to a new release every week.  Melissa will be hard at work hitting the sketchbooks :)

Now, on to what you came here for today!

What's our challenge this week?
Add those 3D elements!

We would like to see lots of 3D elements on your card, altered, item, scrapbook page, or whatever other creation you make.  As you can see from the DT's gorgeous creations, you can take this to mean different things and you can add many different types of 3D items to your card.  Click on their names to find out more about their creations.

Can I get a round of applause for these wonderful creations, please?  I hope the DT's creations inspire you to create those projects using some 3D elements!  Come back again on Monday to find the winners for Challenge #2 and for our Inspiration Post with creations from the rest of DT members.

So go ahead, get carried away - we would love to see what you do!
