The Beginning - Tutu Sweet
My first, and still my most favorite, of Melissa's stamps is Tutu Sweet. I found this stamp around dance recital time and decided to use it to make gifts for my daughters dance teachers and my sister. Now, to be honest, this was also the beginning of my love affair with copic markers so I was trying out a lot of new techniques with this image. I apologize for my photos as well, I was just learning Photoshop and went a little to heavy on the enhancements.

How to Use Dimentionals Tutorial
I colored the new March release "Kitty in Sock" image. I was unsatisfied with the way the color of the cat. It was the same color intensity of the sock and I felt that what was to be the focal point became lost in the image.

I made a duplicate copy of the image and colored just the cat's head. I made the colors lighter and added more contrast.

Very carefully, I cut out the cat. I tried to stay right at the outline.

Then, I added dimentionals to the cat for placement on the image. Depending on the look you want to achieve you can double up dimentionals or use a thicker dimentional for a more dramatic look.

This is a side view of the image with the head attached. When cutting the image out there will be some white areas of paper that will need to be touched up with your marker.

Next, I add dimentionals to the frame that will hold my image. These varied dimentions make my image the focal point in all the varied papers and layers.

Finally, I add dimentionals to my newly created image.

Waa Laa. I turned a mistake into a focal point for my card. My image takes center stage. This technique might save you from having to recolor an entire image or it might be one you use to draw attention to a focal point of an image. Either way it will make your work pop and take it to the next DIMENTION.

Memory Lane
I was so excited to be asked by my friend, Dee to be the August 2010 guest designer. I thought that meant I had made it in the crafting world. Ask Dee, I was giddy like a school girl. The only concern I had was that I was going to be embarking on a two week road trip from Oregon to Indiana at the same time. I decided that I was not going to let that stop me. Once we got to the in-laws house I made my Mother-in-Law take me to Archivers. It was my first time and I was in crafter heaven. Seriously I thought I was going to die from all the awesomeness. I had my image already picked out for my first post. I was going to use Fru Fru Fairy Pony, so next I scoured the store for the right papers and embellishments. Man that was fun. Despite my limited supplies I was able to rock out a fun first card that I am still super proud of.
Apparently I left a good impression with the ladies here at Meljen's because not to long after my GD stint I was asked back as a full time DT member. I am so thankful for being a part of this team and being able to showcase Melissa's wonderful designs. I can't wait to see what 2012 brings.
Thanks for taking this trip down memory lane with me. That was fun. Enjoy your week everyone.
