Meet Susan!

Hello everyone!

Today is the last of our new designer Get-To-Know-You posts!

Today, I am thrilled to introduce:

Susan

My name is Susan, and I am currently living in Georgia, USA. My fiance is in Australia while we wait on immigration. It's torture being apart. I have 3 kids (one in college and two in middle school), 2 cats (Highlight and Whiteout) and a dog (T-Bone). I love to scrapbook and make cards. I started scrapping when my oldest was born... she is 18 years old now. I didn't scrap for about 5 of those years. I love learning new techniques and I'm really loving Copic and trying to improve my coloring. Yes.. I love coloring like a little kid and I always have.. Oh! And I'm proud of it!! LOL

Here's a sweet little penguin card that Susan sent in with her application.

It's been a lot of fun sharing our new designers with you this month!  Check back in a week for our October Guest Designer!

Hugs,

Design Team Day with Ruza

Good morning!  Ruza here popping in to share a project I created with one of the newly released Meljen's Designs Stamps.  I'm loving the Halloween Stamps for the September release, and Witchy Shoe Kitty was just calling out to me.

This adorable kitten was colored with my favorite product ... Copic Markers.  Once the stamp was colored I applied Distress Ink around the edges, added some sparkle with a Gelly Roll Clear Star Pen and attached it to my background.

It is a little hard to believe that in a little over 1-month we will be celebrating Halloween here in the US.  My brother-in-law's birthday is near Halloween so I left the sentiment off and will add a little something to the inside before I send this off.

Until next time ... Enjoy!

Say Hello to Jessica and Ria!

Hello!

I've got 2 more of our new designers to introduce you to today!

Here's Jessica M.

My name is Jessica, and most people call me Jess. I was born and schooled in South Africa, where I picked up a love of bright colours in Natal, and moved to the UK after completing my education and now live in Ireland.

I love doing anything crafty and other interests include drawing, painting, calligraphy and making small toys. My most passionate craft for the last few years has been cardmaking, and I live with a very understanding partner who humours me when it comes to my paper and colour addiction! I started out with a love for decoupage, but very soon found stamping and still like to layer and layer, the more the better. Most of my cards are clean designs, although it depends what mood I am in and if the distress inks are closeby.

I make cards for all occassions, but Christmas and Wedding cards are definite favourite because I can user lots of glitter, flowers, die cut shapes and punches. My cuttlebug, bighsot and dies are never far away either, and are honestly my best ever craft investments!

When I am not crafting I work full time and love walking and baking when I get a moment to do those things too.

Here's a beautiful card from Jess that really grabbed our attention during our DT Call
Using Fancy Flower Pony

And, next up, we have:

Ria

My name is Ria van Son and I am living in the Netherlands (Europe). I feel so honoured to be picked for the Meljen's Design Team.  I share my life with my hubby(almost 29 years) and our English Cocker Spaniel " Seven "who really is a handfull of trouble. I still believe we should have called her Tinkerbell. That fits her much more. In 2007 I saw some blogs with the most amazing cards made with Stamps and all kinds of embellies and knew right away that I wanted to do something like that. I was at that moment looking for a new hobby as I had to quit my PolymerClay addiction ( sculpting fantasy figures and making jewelry) due Carpal Tunnel Syndrome on both hands. Didnt wanted to go thru a 4th operation so I decided to stop it and search for something else that would not be so hard for my hands. And I am enjoying my Stamps and Papers ever since I started working with them in 2007.  MY latest addiction is colouring on Kraft cardstock and playing alot of challenges in blogland. I hope you all will love my creations with Meljen's Designs stamps.

Here is one of Ria's beautiful creations!  This has always been a favorite image of mine!

I hope to see you again next Saturday!

Hugs,
Dee

Karaoke with Di

I'm really excited that the Design Team was up for playing "Karaoke" this month!  It's been so much fun listening to the music that inspires them.

I have loved this song since the first moment I heard it.  Wesley has had it on his iPod for quite a while.  The song is "Stolen" by Dashboard Confessional.  The card that was inspired by the song was a Pop-Out Frame Card that I embellished for Erick...

Stolen My Heart Card:
Paper: Sugar Cookie & Leap Frog CS (Bazzill); Libretto, Pageantry & Prima Donna (Cappella ~ Basic Grey)
Embellishments: Pearl Halves (Zva Creations); 3D foam squares & dental floss
Digital Image: Sweet Lace Heart (Meljen's Designs)
Template: 4" x 4" Pop-Out Frame Card
Finished size: 4" x 4"
I just love this song...

Do you have a song that inspires you?  What is it?  I'd love to hear it.  You never know, it may inspire me to create something else.  {{wink}}
Until next time...

Karaoke With Robin - Thriller

Here is my creation using "Wolfman Treats" by Meljen's Design.  My designer paper is "Ghostly Greetings" by K&Company.  My finishing touches are burnt orange rick rack and yellow rhinestones.

This little guy reminds me of the song of Thriller by Michael Jackson, on how he turns into a werewolf.  Hope your enjoy this little bit of nostalgia.

Remember Gina and Nancy?

Hello!!

Again, I'm starting your Saturday morning with a little get to know you session here at Meljen's Designs!

This week, I've got 2 designers to introduce you to!  Both of these beautiful ladies have been guest designers with us and we are thrilled to have them as team members now!

Do you remember Gina?

Little bit about me...

I am a 28 year old stay at home wife and mommy of 3. My kids are 9, 6 and 3. My middle child was born deaf, so much of my time is spent working with her in language development. Interestingly enough when I was in Jr High I took American Sign Language as an elective. My two years of ASL "training" has helped me with my daughter immensely. I've never been a "crafty" person.. I colored in coloring books a kid, but had much more fun playing "school" or "office" over pulling out stuff to create something. When my husband was deployed to Iraq I went and spent a few nights at a friend's house and she showed my daughter how to make a bracelet. I was intrigued and a few days later I went out and bought tons of jewelry making supplies. I really loved making jewelry until......I found card making. What is very interesting to me personally is I remember going with my mom to Stampin' Up parties, but the children were always tucked away in a room to watch a movie, or sent outside to play, not allowed to touch the products. I remember watching my mom at home play with her stamping stuff and one day she just gave it all to me. Being the non-crafter I was, it just sat in my closet. I still have the box and have passed down some of those stamps to my oldest daughter who loves card making as well. I've kept most of the stamps and even some of the dried up ink pads for sentimental reasons. So I had been making jewelry for about 3 years when I came across some very beautiful cards. I thought "Wow! How beautiful!" I was pregnant with my 3rd and decided I was ready to venture off into card making. BOY!!! Did I have a lot to learn! I thought it was as simple as stamping the image, coloring and you're done. I let it go for a while, but a little over a year ago I got really serious about it. Now, 110 Copics, 72 prismacolor pencils, 3,000 sheets of paper and at least 150 rubber stamps later....I have a CRAFT ROOM!! I laugh at this. Me, the non-crafter, has a craft room. In addition to my crafting I've also become a BeachBody Coach. I am about 85 lbs overweight (I've lost 15lbs so far) and have been very unhappy with myself. I am on a journey to change my lifestyle and help others change theirs too. I decided that I am no longer "working out" .. I am "training". Training to be in the best shape of my life!! As long as I can "push play" everyday and create afterwards, I am one happy mama! :)

Here's an adorable card from Gina, just in time for Halloween!
Using Cat-O-Lantern

And,
Nancy

"I'm the wife of a wonderful husband, mom to 2 grown daughters and grandma to 3 of the cutest kids you've ever seen. I live in a small city in SW Ontario, Canada. I have always loved crafting, especially card making."

Here is a bright happy summer card from Nancy
Using Yummy Popsicle

Nancy actually joined our team just a little before our call went out for new designers, but I wanted to make sure that she gets a proper introduction as well!

See you again next week!

Hugs,
Dee

Design Team Day by Nancy

Good Friday morning to you all, hope you are looking forward to a wonderful weekend, I know I am! I was so excited when Dianna told us that this month the Design Team's theme was "Karaoke". When I am card making there are always 3 other things present: a bowl of popcorn; a medium icecap (made with chocolate milk) and my ipod beating out my favourite Contemporary Christian tunes. My only problem was which song to pick! So I decided to look through Melissa's shop and let one of her images be my guide. As soon as I saw "Teddy Bear Couple" (http://meljensdesigns.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2_3&sort=20a&page=3)  I knew it was the one and which song to pick. So here is my card:
"Together Forever"

The song I picked is "I Will Be Here" by Steven Curtis Chapman. It's a beautiful song of love and faithfulness, perfect for a wedding or anniversary. You can listen to it here:

Well, that's it for me. Hope you enjoyed our time together.
Hugs'
Nancy
